Crafts Galore Encore September 2024

After celebrating our little princess's birthday last week it is now only days until she heads out to "big" school. She is both excited and nervous. But, most of all, she's looking forward to catching up with all her friends and making new ones.

Meanwhile .....

.... there is a new challenge starting today at

Thank you to everyone who joined in with last month's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"
and our sponsor this month is:

who are offering a prize of three digi images for our lucky winner.

I made an 8"x 8" (20 x 20cm) birthday card for my daughter's puppy who celebrated his first birthday last month.

The papers are from an 8" paper pad Paradise Crush by First Edition. The matting layers are white card with the edges coloured with an orange Copic pen.

This delightful image from our sponsor is called My Good Boy. The set comes with a coloured version of the image as well as the outline drawing, both in jpeg and png formats. It also has a digital backing paper and the coloured image mounted on the backing paper. Everything can be sized to suit in a computer program.
I used my Copics to colour the outline png image.

I cut out the tag shape from the digital paper and used it as a layer behind the image.

The sentiment, bones and paw prints are all stamps from a set that was free in a magazine years ago.

One of my beautiful daughters loves vintage roses so I made her this hexagon canvas. It measures 11.5" (30 cms) from point to opposite point.

All the ephemera is from a very old set by Kaisercraft, apart from a die cut heart and the Cheery Lynn die cut leaf flourishes.

I started by using texture paste through a DecoArt Americana Decor text stencil randomly over the canvas.
I then tore up up some old book pages and coloured them with watered powders from Lindy's Magicals Nantucket Pearls set.
Once stuck down with Soft Matt Gel, and dried, I gave the canvas a coat of white gesso.
Next, I used the Magicals to colour areas of the canvas and gave another coat of white gesso.

I used the texture paste on the some of the sides of the canvas and extended the book pages around the sides too.

I assembled the floral elements by layering some of them up on blocks of differing heights that I made from acetate. To do this, I cut the acetate into strips and scored it to fold it into 5 equal squares. I then folded each one into a cube and glued it into place under a flower with Heavy Body Gel.
I die cut the leaf flourishes and coloured them with green Copics. I glued several layers together for stability. I chopped the flourishes up and tucked the pieces in between the roses.

I die cut a small heart and coloured it with the Salt Water Taffy Magical. I added the frame, the birds, a little butterfly and the word Adore. I finished the canvas with some clear glass flat backed beads.

My lovely Sister in Law had a nasty accident and ended up in hospital recently. I made her a card to cheer her up and let her know we were thinking of her.

The card is 8"x 8" (20 x 20cm). The matting layers are all white card coloured with Copic pen V15 to match the pretty papers from LOTV's Promises 8"x 8" pad.

I used this cute image called For You and coloured it with my Copics.

I finished the card with some seam binding ribbon and paper flowers from Prima.

I have made a tag.  It measures 7"x 4" (18 x 19 cm). The tag, cogs and clock are all made of thick greyboard and are from Tando Creative

I started by giving the tag a coat of white gesso and then adding texture paste though the Diamond Life stencil #70 from Aall and Create

I painted the cogs and frame with brown acrylics and finished them with touches of gold acrylic. I set them aside to dry.

I painted the tag with DecoArt Fluid Acrylics Prussian Blue Hue and Cobalt Turquoise Hue, also Golden Teal Fluid Acrylic. I used a lot of water to move the paints around and blend them.

I added touches of white acrylic and gold acrylic and sprayed them with water to blend them into the blues.

I used dabs of the Golden Teal acrylic and DecoArt Prussian Blue with white acrylic paint to colour the clock. I finished it with some gold acrylic. The padlock was painted with gold acrylic.

I assembled all the elements, using Heavy Body Gel, starting with the lovely gold lace ribbon.

Then I add the cogs, clock, frame and padlock.

Crafts Galore Encore July 2024

The final month of primary school has arrived!! None of us can quite believe how quickly the last six years have flown by. Now we are busy shopping for a prom outfit and a new school uniform.

who are offering 3 digi images from their shop to our lucky winner.

I have made a 6"x 6" (15 x 15cm) Z-fold birthday card for a little princess.

I made the 6" card base into a Z-fold and used papers from Craft Consortium The Gift of Giving 12" paper pad to decorate the front panel, the Z banner and the inside of the card. I matted the papers and the image onto some textured purple card from my stash.

I chose to use Birthday Cake Flower Fairy Winnie Daisy image and coloured it with my Copics. Who doesn't dream of a cake so tall you need a stool to blow out the candle?
The little bird in the corner of the image is cut from the paper pad.

I cut out some of the present images from the paper and stuck them onto the Z banner. I stamped the birthday sentiment and added that to the card. I've left one inside panel white to sign the card.

I finished the card with some of the cute little birds cut out from the paper and some pink gems.
