Creative Artiste #82 May 2022

 Happy Friday everyone!

Welcome to a new challenge at

Creative Artiste is a monthly challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered the challenge last month. Your projects were all wonderful and our winners have been announced on the blog.
Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"
We have opportunities to be a Guest Designer for all our winners.

I recently took an online class with Finnabair through Art Workshops and this is what I made.

The class was all about exploring our "Signature Style". I discovered that I like circles, turquoise/blues and cogs/gears.

I first white gessoed a 12" (30 cm) canvas and then randomly stencilled circles using AALL & Create #87 Totally Dotty stencil with soft matt gel.

I worked on my composition using empty ribbon and tape reels. I made some cogs and flat back beads with resin. I fixed everything in place with heavy body gel and gave it all a coat of white gesso.

Once everything was dry I used watered DecoArt Fluid Acrylics Prussian Blue, Cobalt Teal Hue and Quinacridone Gold  to colour the cogs and canvas. I also added touches of Pebeo gold wax to the beads and some cogs.

I coloured Prima Art Stones with Cobalt Teal fluid acrylic and used Soft Matt Gel to add them to random areas. I chose a Tim Holtz Paper Doll and placed her on a pair of resin wings I'd made and painted in pale blue acrylic. Lastly, I added the words around the top half of the canvas with a dark blue Posca pen.

I've called this piece "My Sanctuary" as it represents my happy place.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge as many times as you like. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. Crafts Galore Encore May 2022

Finally we have had some sunny weather and mild temperatures. Hopefully it will last for the whole May Bank Holiday so we can enjoy the great outdoors.

But, before I pack the picnic ....

.... there is a new challenge starting today at

Thank you to everyone who joined in with last month's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.
Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"
and our sponsor this month is:
who is offering two sets of her fabulous art to our lucky winner.

I first made a 5"x 7" (13 x 18 cm) scalloped card. I used Papermania textured dark blue card as a base layer.

I love the quirky Cups to Stack set of images. There are five A4 sheets of designs in the set, some in black and white and some in colour. I used this teacups image from one of the sheets and flipped it before printing to be a better fit with the words.

I created this sentiment on the computer to go with the image and printed both together to make the topper. I do love my cups of tea.

I made a resin teapot from a Katy Sue mould and used Gansai Tambi Cobalt Blue to add the colour.
I finished the card with three blue gems.

I also applied this fun image to an A4 canvas.

I created the background with AALL & Create stencil #48 Tribal Lines and blue acrylic paints. I used white gesso to mute and blend the colours before adding the image. I traced the sentiment and filled it in with a dark blue Posca pen.

I added colour to the sides of the canvas by stippling white and blue acrylic paints. Once dry I used the dark blue Posca pen to define the edges.
I'm sure I'll think of many more ways to use this fabulous set of lovely artwork.

Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog where you can see the wonderful projects and cards created by our talented team using Elena ZinskiArt images.
