Docrafts Photo Holder

I did say that I'd be back with more Docrafts samples and today I have a project to make a photo holder that I saw in the latest Creativity magazine. The idea is by Becky James and uses empty ribbon reels. As I have about a zillion of the things cluttering up the place I thought I would use the idea and make one.

I started by taking a small reel and gluing a white paper clip to it then wrapping it in baker's twine. The base ribbon reel is made of card so I coloured the inside with a Promarker and covered the top with a paper from the Gorjuss range by Docrafts. I tied more baker's twine around it.

I wrapped an off cut of Gorjuss paper around the middle reel, stuck craft tape around it and covered the top with a paler paper. I then stuck all three reels together. I made paper roses and leaves, again using leftover pieces of Gorjuss paper, to decorate the tower.

I inked a couple of Papermania Big Blooms and added a button to break up the darker colours.
The final embellishments are a ribbon bow, punched out flowers and butterflies, a tag and a heart.
I finished by adding a Gorjuss photo from the A4 paper pack to the paper clip.
This photo holder proved very popular at the demo. I'll bet that you've been saving empty ribbon reels too. Now you know what to do with them.

Kraftyhands March Midway Reminder

I thought I'd better give you a reminder about this month's challenge on the  Kraftyhands Challenge Blog. The theme for March is a sketch, which you will find at the bottom of this post.

I covered a 6"x 6" card blank with Core'dination pale green card and layered a paper from Kraftyhands Vintage Chic Boutique CD. I used pale pink satin ribbon for the tails, backing one of them with gold mirri card. The sentiment is from Kew Floral Collection CD and the buttons are from my ever growing collection.

The wonderful topper has been mounted onto gold mirri card. It is from a Kraftyhands die cut card making set called Home Sweet Home. These sets only cost £1.80 and contain toppers, sentiments and backing card.

This is the sketch you need to follow,  I kept it the right way up this time, but you don't have to. We'd love to see what this inspires you to make.
There is a £20 voucher to spend on the Kraftyhands website for the lucky winner of this challenge if they have used a Kraftyhands product, and blinkies for the top three entries. A full list of the challenge rules can be found on the Kraftyhands Challenge blog. Please pop over to the Kraftyhands shop for your crafty needs and for the items I've used on this card.

Docrafts March Demo

It's demo time for me again. I will be at The Range in Carmarthen today from 10am till 4pm. I have been working with 3 fabulous kits plus some new dies and stamps. Here are just a few of the samples I have made for my demonstrations today.

I used some of the new Build-A-Scene dies and some elements from the All Aboard collection to create this kinetic card.

This stepper card is based on one of the All Aboard project suggestions from Docrafts.

I used the Forever Friends Kraft Notes A4 Ultimate pack, Papermania textured card and a heart from the Felt Heart Strip to make this simple card.

This aperture tent card is based on one of the project suggestions that come with the Goody Bag. The butterflies are the Urban stamp from the Goody bag.

The Gorjuss paper packs have some papers with the cute characters on, like the girl on a swing that I've used on this card.

The Gorjuss A4 Ultimate die-cut and paper pack has lots of decoupage, toppers, tags and papers. There are coordinating ribbons, brads, buttons, stamps and tapes available too.
I think that these are all wonderful kits and I've had great fun playing with them and shall enjoy demoing with them today. I'll be showing some more samples next week.

Liebster Award

It was a great thrill for me to discover that I had been nominated for the Liebster award not once, not twice, but three times in a matter of days! It's always a great pleasure to receive compliments from other crafters and I'm greatly flattered.
I would like to thank these three ladies for kindly nominating me:

 Lynn Whitehouse
Tracey Singleton
 Kay Dalton

For those who don't know what the Liebster Award is, here is some information.

THE AWARD
This award was designed to be a blog award in the pay it forward fashion. once you've been nominated, you award it to blogs that you like that have fewer than 200 followers, to encourage new visitors to visit these blogs.

RULES FOR ACCEPTANCE
Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog. Post the award onto your blog. give the award to five bloggers who you appreciate that have fewer than 200 followers. leave a comment on their blog letting them know that you have given them this awesome award!

I would now like to pass this warm, fuzzy feeling on to some crafters that I admire and would appreciate it very much if you could pay them all a visit.  Although I received three nominations I won't pass the award on fifteen times, I have chosen just the regular five nominees.

You will see that these ladies are all very talented and I hope you sign up to follow them. Don't forget to visit Lynn, Tracey and Kay as well if you don't already know them.

Kraftyhands March Challenge

Today is the launch of a new challenge at the Kraftyhands Challenge Blog. Our theme for March is a sketch, which you will find at the bottom of this post.

For my DT card I used the Miranda and Mo CD. This CD features the fantastic characters of Miranda and her pet mouse Mo. They go everywhere together and are just so cute! The disc includes a wealth of shaped cards, toppers, card sets, inserts, projects and papers. All ready for you to Click, Print and Craft.

I used a 6"x 6" card blank this time which I covered with green Core'dination card and layered on a lovely blue gingham backing paper. I used a green striped paper to create the ribbon "tails" and inked the edges of them for definition.

The topper is from one of the Card Making Sets. There were five layers of decoupage, including the base, different sentiments and an insert. Plus all the other elements you would need to create a card. I matted the image onto more green Core'dination card and rounded the corners to match the topper.

To finish the card I added the sentiment and three buttons from my stash. I used the matching insert on the inside.

You will notice that I've rotated the sketch 90 degrees clockwise for my layout. I just thought it suited the image better this way.

There is a £20 voucher to spend on the Kraftyhands website for the lucky winner of this challenge if they have used a Kraftyhands product, and blinkies for the top three entries. A full list of the challenge rules can be found on the Kraftyhands Challenge blog. Please pop over for a visit to see the wonderful cards the other DT members have created for your inspiration.

Emma's Crafty Challenge #14

Welcome to another challenge at Emma's Crafty Challenge.
Thank you to all who took part in last month's challenge, the lucky winner will be announced shortly. This month we have another fabulous theme. We would like to see your "Vintage" projects. Your entry doesn't have to be a card, any new crafty creation on this theme is welcome.
Our generous sponsor this month is Debbi Moore who is offering Issue 9 of her Inspiration magazine, including the free CD. Plus the Shabby Chic Butterflies and Flowers CD and the Shabby Chic Victorian Botanical CD. Isn't that a wonderful prize?
To give you some inspiration I have made this card.

I started with my favourite 8"x 8" card blank and tinted the edges with Distress Ink Antique Linen. I used two papers from MCS Quintessential Garden and another paper that was a free download from C&C a few years ago.

I created the postcard in MCS with the verse and a rose image. I distressed the edges with my scissors.  I used the edge of my Visible Image Grunge Flourish stamp and gilding flakes from IndigoBlu on a few of the corners and a die cut butterfly from Joy Crafts.

To finish off the card I embellished a bottom corner with another rose, a Cheery Lynn leaf flourish, a feather and a handmade stick pin.

To be in with a chance to win this fabulous prize from Debbi Moore  just enter your "vintage" creation at Emma's Crafty Challenge  blog before the end of the month. You will also find a full set of rules there and more gorgeous inspiration from the rest of the design team.
