DCC and Friends Midway Inspiration

There is still time to enter the current challenge  at DCC & Friends as it runs until November 20th. There are some fabulous prizes up for grabs. We have two sponsors this time, so, two overall winners. Firstly we are sponsored by Creative Expressions, the fabulous Sue Wilson has donated two A5 stamp sets. Visit her blog at PartiCraft and secondly PaperCraftJunkies, Where Tracey is offering 4 of her digis of the winner's choice. There will also be a "Top Three" who will be awarded badges. So, plenty of opportunities to win.
Visit the blog to see more inspiration from the team and check out the showcased entry.
The theme is "Autumn to You" and I've made another card to give you some midway inspiration.

I started by cutting an 8"x8" card blank into a circle and inking the edges with Distress Ink Tea Dye.
I then used a Spellbinders scalloped circle die to cut the backing paper.  Both the leaf backing paper and the circular topper are from a Hunkydory kit from last year. I punched two holes in the leaf paper and threaded organza ribbon through before attaching to the base card.

I die cut a mat from some russet coloured card for the adorable little hedgehog topper and the Hunkydory sentiment from the same kit. I just love this image of the hedgehog, he looks so comfy and cute tucked up in a bed of leaves.

I fixed the sentiment to the bottom right of the card to enable it to stand and added a small piece of die cut waste and a pearl. The finishing touch is some Candi round the scallops.
These chilly nights are just perfect for staying in and crafting, the perfect opportunity to make something for the challenge.
Remember that your entry can be any crafty make as long as it follows the Autumn theme and be sure to collect your Treasure Hunt letter for an added chance to win a crafty prize.

Anything but Square

I've made this easel card for the group challenge #4 at Emma's Hints, Tips and Crafty Inspiration. This challenge is only open to group members so come and find us here on Facebook and ask to join. The theme is "Anything but Square" and the prize is a collection of crafty stash kindly donated by group member Lynne Brierley.

I started by cutting an 8"x8" card blank with a Spellbinder scalloped circle die, scoring and folding the front, to create my easel card base. I then cut a smaller scalloped circle from silver mirri for the front panel of the easel. I coloured the edges of the base card with Distress Ink Spun Sugar.

I used the Flutterbye Wishes kit from Hunkydory for the decorative elements and the pink card is Adorable Scorable. I even die cut one of the Flutterbye card blanks to make one of the layers. I used a scalloped oval Spellbinder die to cut a mat for the Flutterbye pyrimage, mounted that off-centre and decorated the edge with pearls.

For the finishing touches I used a peel-off sentiment, a Marianne leaf die and trimmed a Cheery Lynn die-cut.
This challenge runs until the end of July, so you still have time to join us and enter.

Second New Home Card

As soon as I saw this topper from Hunkydory, I knew my young Grandson would love it, so, I made this card for him when he and his Daddy moved to a new house. I chose the image because he loves cats and had to leave his behind. As the card was for a boy, I didn't want to highlight the pink from the image, so I picked out the red for the embellishments.

I started with my usual 8"x8" card blank and printed off a backing paper from Polkadoodles Pretty Sweet CD with the roses that seemed to match so well with the image. I layered that onto red Hunkydory silk art card. I matted and layered the image with the same red card and piece of yellow card. I used Spellbinder dies for all the red embellishments and a Marianne die for the leaves. The flowers were coloured to match and the sentiment created with MCS. Needless to say, my Grandson loved his card.
