Challenge # 6 DCC & Friends

Welcome to challenge # 6 at DCC & Friends. Our theme for this month is " Button-up". Any projects which include one or more buttons are welcome! You have until January 31st to enter and our usual rules apply (please see the side panel on the challenge blog for details).

Here is my card for your inspiration. As you can see, it definately has more than one button - it has 24!

I wanted heart shaped buttons for this card but didn't have any left in my stash, so, I decided to make my own with Fimo. First I matted and layered an 8" x 8" card blank with silver mirri and a paper from MCS Quintessential Country garden. I wrapped a white and silver ribbon around them before fixing to the card.

Using the scalloped circle dies from Spellbinders, I cut shapes from silver mirri and plain white card.

I coloured the card with a blend of Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac Distress Inks and attached the buttons in a heart shape.

I tied a bow with some wired lace ribbon and made a couple of stick pins with white and silver beads. I used Pinflair to attach these to the white ribbon.

I mixed the leftover Fimo and cut a butterfly button. Once baked I threaded coloured thread through the holes and twirled the ends. For the finishing touch I added some Candi in the top corner.

DCC & Friends # 5 Midway Inspiration

It's time for some mid-way inspiration at DCC & Friends. Our theme this month is "Christmas Time" and the challenge is sponsored by the fabulous Visible Image who will be sending £35 worth of stamps to the very lucky winner.
I have made my DT card using the Visible Image Tree Trio set of stamps and I'd like to enter this card in the Visible Image Christmas Challenge.

I started by using Distress Ink Antique Linen around the edges of an 8" x 8" card blank and then matting and layering gold mirri, blue Papermania textured card and a paper from MCS Quintessential Country Garden to which I added snowflakes before printing. I also wrapped lace, threaded with a chipboard sentiment, around the layers before attaching to the card.

I stamped the largest of the trees in blue ink and double embossed it. I then used DI Antique Linen to colour tint the card before matting onto gold mirri and using foam pads to attach to the card.

I stamped the smallest tree four times in a vertical line and double embossed them. I coloured the card with DI, cut off one tree, and raised the panel on foam pads.

I cut out the remaining small tree and fixed it at an angle in a bottom corner then finished the card with gold candi.

DCC & Friends #5

Welcome to my third post of the day and to Challenge #5  at DCC & Friends. Thank you to those who took part in our Autumn challenge, the lucky winners will be announced soon. This challenge will run until the end of the year - it's not that far away now! The theme this month is "Christmas Time", how very appropriate, and our sponsor is the fabulous Visible Image who will be sending £35 worth of stamps to the very lucky winner. See below for a photo of the prize and a list of the stamps.

I have made my DT card using the Visible Image Tree Trio set of stamps. I'm not really much of a stamper (I love my digis too much) so I had a play around with these lovely stamps using some different types of card and inks before coming up with the idea for this card. I hope you like what I've done.

I covered the front of an 8" x 8" card blank with white Centura Pearl and some green ribbon. I stamped a cluster of the trees onto Centura Pearl card with Evergreen Bough Distress Ink using a couple of masks. I stamped the large tree separately and cut that out leaving a white border. I wrapped some small baubles on a string around it and mounted it onto the topper with foam pads. I was aiming for a scene of trees on a snowy hillside and I just loved the faded effect created by using my combination of card and ink.

I matted the topper and the sentiment - also from Visible Image - onto green Papermania textured card. The leaf flourish dies are from Cheery Lynn. I coloured them black to match the sentiment, cut them up and tucked the ends behind the topper.

I stamped the smallest tree three times as before, and cut them out. I mounted them on foam pads and finished the card with a bow.

DCC and Friends Midway Inspiration

The theme is "Autumn to You" and I've made another card to give you some midway inspiration.

I started by cutting an 8"x8" card blank into a circle and inking the edges with Distress Ink Tea Dye.
I then used a Spellbinders scalloped circle die to cut the backing paper.  Both the leaf backing paper and the circular topper are from a Hunkydory kit from last year. I punched two holes in the leaf paper and threaded organza ribbon through before attaching to the base card.

I die cut a mat from some russet coloured card for the adorable little hedgehog topper and the Hunkydory sentiment from the same kit. I just love this image of the hedgehog, he looks so comfy and cute tucked up in a bed of leaves.

I fixed the sentiment to the bottom right of the card to enable it to stand and added a small piece of die cut waste and a pearl. The finishing touch is some Candi round the scallops.
These chilly nights are just perfect for staying in and crafting, the perfect opportunity to make something for the challenge.

This is my DT card, I made it for a family member's October birthday. 

I inked the edges of an 8”x8” card with a mixture of Distress Inks Antique Linen and Tea Dye and layered it with a printed backing card from the MCS CD Opulent . The digi image is from the same CD, which I coloured with Promarkers then cut out.

I altered the colour of the rose image in MCS and printed it several times, in a couple of sizes. I then cut them out and decoupaged them.

I die-cut a circle from the pre-coloured digi and punched a smaller circle from inked card. I then mounted that on foam pads and added a gold peel-off sentiment and a printed rosebud.

DCC and Friends Challenge Reminder

There are still 10 days to go for Challenge #3 at DCC & Friends where the theme is "Character Crazy". Here is my midway inspiration for you.

I started by covering an 8"x8" card blank with red textured card from Papermania. I created the backing paper in MCS by cropping and tiling a small section of one of the digis. Then I changed the colour. I embossed a piece of  blue Core'dinations card with some Donna Salazar die-cut cogs and sanded it lightly.

My "characters" are Henry and Uncle Charlie Rustin. They are available as digi images from the PaperCraftJunkies shop. I put the two coloured versions together and took them into MCS where I gave them a makeover by changing the colours.  After cutting them out I inked around them with Barn Door Distress Ink.

The cogs were coloured by blending Tea Dye and Barn Door Distress Inks. I created the cog border by die-cutting halfway through the dies and the sentiment was done in MCS.

DCC and Friends Challenge # 3

This is my DT card, made with fabulous images by Tracey Grundy from PaperCraftJunkies.

I made an 8" x8" easel card and covered the front with a green textured card from Papermania, I layered that with a  paper from Kanban's Industriana pad. The chevron card is from Papermania's Happy Days pad.
I die cut the cogs with Donna Salazar's Sprockets set from blue Core'dinations card, then used them to emboss the green Core'dinations card before using as embellishments.

The robots are from the Rustin (get it?) family, the blue one is called Henry and the brown one is Uncle Charlie. I used Promarkers to colour them both then die cut them with Spellbinder's labels eleven. I inked the edges with Distress inks Weathered Wood and Bundled Sage.

The stand was made with off cuts and mounted on foam pads.  I created the sentiment in MCS and I cut some dies from plain card and coloured them with promarkers for the finishing touch.

Enchanted Fairies

Well, I don't know what's up with Blogger, it still won't show my beautiful background or font settings despite everything being properly installed. So, again, I apologise for the look of my blog, it's not at all what I want it to look like but there are more important things in life to worry about.

Today I'd like to remind you about the current challenge at DCC & Friends. There are still a couple of days left to enter - until Friday - and the prizes are fabulous - from Sharon Duncan and PaperCraftJunkies. We also have DT and GDT posts available for those who are interested and don't forget to collect your next letter for the treasure hunt draw.

Seeing as the theme for the challenge is Fairies, Mystic and Magic I thought it would tie in nicely with some cards I've been busy making. I just love the fairies on the Docrafts Enchanted DVD and I printed off the digi images and had a play with my Polychromos.

The backgrounds are from the Enchanted CD and the die cut is from X-Cut. I simply embellished with coloured flowers and some ribbon.

I didn't realise how sad this fairy looks until I'd printed her out, but I still think she's lovely.
