Creative Artiste #58 March 2020

We've had a few sunny days this past week but some of the more usual rainy ones too. Hopefully the nicer days will get more frequent and a lovely spring is just around the corner. Until then I think I'll stay indoors and keep crafting. So ....

.... Welcome to my March challenge post for
Creative Artiste is a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered the challenge in February. Your projects were all wonderful and our winners have been announced on the blog.

Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"
and we have opportunities to be a Guest Designer for our winners.

I have made an 8"x 8" (20 x 20 cm) canvas using Tracy Evans #143 Time Flies and Olga Heldwein #195 Flowers and Gears stamps by Aall & Create.

This canvas is based on one of the classes I taught last month and the techniques proved very popular.
The canvas was first coloured with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide and water.

I then used 2nd generation stamping randomly over the canvas and dried everything well before giving it a light coat of white gesso.

Circles were stamped with different sized bottle tops using Picked Raspberry DOX and lightly spritzed with water to diffuse them slightly.

Next, circles were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed in gold. Splashes of gesso were also gold embossed. The canvas base was finished with splashes of white gesso.

The flowers were stamped onto gessoed card with Picked Raspberry DOX and lightly spritzed with water. Once dry they were overstamped with black Versafine. The sentiment was done the same way.

This technique with the flowers creates a lovely watercolour effect. Once they were dry, the flowers and sentiment were cut out and the centres glued onto the canvas. I used some watered Weathered Wood Distress Ink to create shadows around the flowers for dimension and around the edges of the canvas.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. Crafts Galore Encore March 2020

Brrr, what a cold, wet and windy month February was! Hopefully March will bring some nice Spring sunshine and warmer weather. Until then ...

.... There's a new challenge at
Thank you to everyone who joined in with February's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"
and our sponsor this month is:

Morgan's Artworld
The lucky winner will win the three digi images the design team have used.

I have made a 7"x 7" (18 x 18 cm) card. I think it has a Springtime feel so gave it an Easter sentiment.

I created the base with water and Distress Oxides Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade. I matted it onto yellow textured card.

I chose to use the cute Teddy World 5 and coloured the image with Copics. I then used a hexagonal die to cut it out.

I dipped a length of white seam binding in the wet DOX and used it to make the ribbon and bow. I also tied a plain white bow. I fixed them all to an off cut of the yellow textured card.

Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog where you can see the fabulous projects and cards created by our talented design team using the three Morgan's Artworld images for the winner.

Creative Artiste #57 February 2020

Welcome to my first challenge post of 2020 for
Creative Artiste is a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered the challenge last December. Your projects were all fabulous and our winners have been announced on the blog.

Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

I've been having fun making a canvas in one of my favourite colour combos.

I started by gessoing the 8"x 8" (20 x 20 cm) canvas and adding a layer of DecoArt Crackle Paste over random areas.

When that was dry, I used DecoArt Prussian Blue Hue Fluid Acrylic and lots of water to colour the background.

I stamped the clock with Tracy Evans stamp #143 by Aall & Create in black Versafine. I overstamped it in Versamark and heat embossed in gold, removing some of the powder first to give a distressed look.

I built up the composition using a die-cut and some lace scraps. I then added Prima Artstones around the canvas. Those were coloured with Prussian Blue Fluid Acrylic.

I sprinkled some gold Frantage over the Artstones and canvas and added a few glass pebbles to finish.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. Crafts Galore Encore February 2020

Brrr! January was a long, cold month. Perfect for staying indoors and crafting. Hopefully February's weather will be better. At least there are Valentine's Day and a half term break to look forward to.

Crafts Galore Encore January 2020

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! AND HAPPY NEW DECADE!
I hope you have all had a pleasant time over the festivities. It's been a busy time of travelling and celebrating with family for me. Our special little girl was delighted that Father Christmas listened to her wishes, thought she was a good girl and brought her the toys she'd wished for. Happy times!
To kick start the new year, and decade, on my blog ....

.... There's a new challenge at
Thank you to everyone who joined in with December's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog. We have new DT members to introduce too!

who are offering a $10 voucher for their store to our winner.

I have made a card to celebrate the New Year.

The card base is 6"x 6" (15 x 15 cms). The first layer is pale yellow Papermania card topped with a blue Papermania textured card.

The image I chose to work with is called Party Girl. I think she looks quite pensive. Maybe she's thinking of which New Year resolutions she should make and break? She, and her cute little kitten, were coloured with my Copics and matted onto yellow card.

I printed the sentiment at the same time as the image. The balloons were created with an X-cut punch, tied with blue thread and stuck down with foam pads. I finished the card with three blue gems.
