Scribble & Scrap Challenge #41

Welcome to Challenge #41 at Scribble & Scrap. Thank you to all those who entered Challenge #40, the winners have been announced. Please see the blog for the details and the prize that's up for grabs for this challenge.
Our theme is always "Anything Goes"

I made this Spring themed 6"x 6" card by using Distress Inks Salty Ocean and Squeezed Lemonade to create the background on watercolour paper. I then created the layers with blue pearlescent card.
The stamps were a magazine freebie and I used them to stamp a scene.

I added the stalks to the flowers with a black pen.

The sentiment stamp is from my stash.

Now head on over to the Scribble & Scrap blog to enter your crafty makes, we'd love to see them.

Swap Card March 2015

I belong to a little swap group on Facebook and we exchange cards once a month. This month the theme was "Fashion". This is the card I made and sent to my swap partner.

I used an 8"x 8" scalloped card blank and edged it with ink. The papers are from Graphic 45's Couture Collection, the mats are black card and the black lace is from Docrafts.

I used an X-cut die set to cut the mannequin and dress. I cut the dress twice so I could decoupage the folds of the skirt for dimension.

I finished the card with half pearls, Crealies flourishes and a tiny feather.
If you're in the UK and like to swap cards ask me to add you to our group. You'd be more than welcome.

Butterfly Packaging

I received some lovely presents last week for Mothering Sunday. There was a thick acetate band around one of them that I thought would be perfect for a make over.

I used an X-cut die to cut some grass strips and stood them up inside the base. Then I fixed one to the front and added some punched butterflies.. The background card was  from my stash and I added a Memory Box leafy die-cut.

The butterflies are created from a mixture of X-cut, Memory Box and Cheery Lynn dies, plus an X-cut punch. One butterfly is fixed to the front and another two are dangling on a strip of acetate inside.

The side view shows the depth and the rows of grasses.
I don't think I'm unique as a crafter for keeping hold of empty boxes, tins and packaging for a possible crafty purpose. It's nice to actually get around to transforming something though.

I'd like to enter this project in the following challenges:

Mummy's Birthday Card

I was lucky enough to be one of the winners of the lovely Holley's blog candy event last month to celebrate her five years of being seizure free. I won some Sherri Baldy digis and one of the images I chose was perfect for a card for my young granddaughter, Harlow, to give to her Mummy on her birthday.
This is card I made.

I started by matting and layering card in black, red and finally white. I then chose a polka dot paper from Papermania's Capsule collection Spots and Stripes. I wrapped black lace around all the layers and fixed them to an 8"x 8" scalloped card blank.

I coloured the image with a mix of Copics and Promarkers and matted and layered it onto red and then black card. I created the sentiment on the computer and hand cut the heart layers. I finished the card with a polka dot bow and some punched hearts.

For a little insight into my daughter's birthday celebrations, this is the delightful Harlow showing Mummy her 'handwritten' birthday message,

and enjoying a birthday cupcake as her reward.

Scribble & Scrap Challenge #40

Happy Mothering  Sunday ladies and
welcome to Challenge #40 at Scribble & Scrap. There is a fabulous new prize for this challenge, please see the blog for the details.
There is a change to the DT projects for the Scribble & Scrap challenges now that the shop has closed due to owner Lexie having a new and time-consuming job. That means that, just like the entrants to the challenge, we can use whatever we want to make our "Anything Goes" projects.
Today I have a card using a digi stamp that I won in another challenge.

I matted a Prima paper onto card I coloured with Pan Pastels. I die cut a scalloped circle and embossed it with the Docrafts Lace Circle embossing folder to create a doily. I cut this in half and placed it behind the image. I added some large Ric-Rac and velvet ribbon, also from Docrafts.

The image is Lazy Louise and Bathtime Bubble Friends from Oddball Art. I coloured it with Copics and Promarkers and added some pearls to her hair. I think Lizzy looks frazzled and fully deserving of her bubble bath.

I finished the card with a triple bow, a large button and some Frantage.
Now head on over to the Scribble & Scrap blog where you will notice that we have some very talented new DT members joining us this week. It's exciting to be working alongside such fabulous crafters and I'm delighted to welcome them all.

Friday 13th Birthday

Today is Friday 13! A lot of people are superstitious and think that it's a day when unlucky things happen. But not in our family as today is my eldest daughter's birthday. We plan on celebrating with presents, cake and family. Happy Birthday Victoria!!
This is the card I have made for her.

I covered an 8"x 8" card blank with cream card. I used a stencil from Memory Box and Pan Pastels to create the card front on another piece of cream card.

The flourish die is from Memory Box and the silk ribbon and half pearls are from my stash.

I created the verse and sentiment on the computer.
I'm going to organise the festivities now but I hope you all have a safe and lucky Friday 13th.

Docrafts Demonstration March 2015

I've had a very busy week playing with some new Docraft's goodies. I had two collections and some foiled decoupage to work with and the artwork and papers are all wonderful. I also had a couple of lovely new embossing folders to work with.
Yesterday I had a demo at The Range in Carmarthen which proved very popular. Here are some of the samples that I made.
This first collection is Nature's Gallery. It's based on botanical and bird art illustrations and has an authentic vintage look.
There are decoupaged birds, ribbons and buttons in the collection.

Collaged images of birds, plants and butterflies feature heavily.

And there are plenty of lovely floral images and pretty papers.

The second new release is the popular Craft Collection in pastels.
There are fabric effect papers, memory pockets and fabulous matching trims.

The cross stitch patterns, gingham and toppers are perfect with Kraft card.

The range also includes Urban stamps of sentiments, cross stitch and borders.

I discovered that the design of the new 6"x 6" Lace Circle embossing folder is a perfect fit for an X-cut Scalloped Circle die. Ideal for quick, pretty cards.

There are new foiled die-cut decoupage designs from Anita with two sets on each A4 sheet.

There is everything from cute kittens to pretty Spring images and much more.
I hope I've inspired you to head out to your local Docrafts stockist. If you'd like to see more of my samples created for Docrafts please click on the link to my online gallery in the sidebar.

Kraftyhands March 2015 Challenge

Good morning everyone. I'm just off to The Range in Carmarthen where I'll be demoing some of the lovely new collections from Docrafts. I'll be in store from 10am until 4pm and would love to see you if you're in the area. I'll show you my samples tomorrow.

Today is the start of the March challenge at Kraftyhands. Thank you to those of you who joined in with the February challenge, the winners have been announced on the blog. This challenge is just for fun and the theme this month is
"One for Mums"
I have made an 8"x 8" card using the Femme Fatale CD. The delicate floral papers and pretty, vintage images on this CD are just perfect for feminine cards.

I started by matting a rose and text covered paper onto pink card. I then made a doily using a Spellbinder's die and covering it with Frantage. I wrapped a length of wide satin cream ribbon around the layers before securing them to the card base.

The centre panel was made using the elements from one of the 6"x 6" Card Making Sets on the CD. I added a doily, some little flowers, pink half pearls and a stand of pearls.

I finished the card with a big satin bow and a few frantaged butterflies.
Don't forget to visit the  Kraftyhands Challenge Blog for a full set of the challenge rules and to view the inspirational creations from my talented team mates. Remember to be a follower of the challenge blog to qualify for entry in the challenge. Don't forget you can watch Kraftyhands shows regularly on The British Craft Network. Crafts Galore Encore March 2015 Challenge

With February being a short month March is upon us already. Happy St. David's Day and welcome to the March challenge for the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog. It is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. A full list of rules and details of the sponsor's prizes are on the challenge blog. The theme for this month is everyone's favourite:
"Anything Goes"
Our fabulous sponsor this month is Di's Digi Stamps who are offering a $12 voucher for the lucky winner.

I have an altered wooden box for my DT make to show you today. It's the perfect size for notelets.
This started life as a wooden cheese box. I applied a couple of coats of gesso followed by pink acrylic. I then covered the top with a doily and a small scalloped circle. I wrapped ribbon and lace around the edge and made a layered bow topped with a paper rose.

To decorate the top I used paper roses, a ribbon tab. a string of pearls and wired pearl strands which I curled. The butterfly is from a Docrafts die. I gave it a Frantage treatment and some pearls.

I used a Docrafts die to cut out scalloped circles for notelets and edged them all with Spun Sugar Distress ink. I stamped a small bird and butterfly on each one.
I think this makes a lovely little gift - perfect for Mother's Day - and was easy and fun to make.
