Creative Artiste #90 February 2023

The Creative Artiste team has been taking a break during January to recharge their creativity.

But now we are back!

So,

....Welcome to the first challenge of 2023 at

Creative Artiste is a monthly challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered the challenge in December. Your projects were all fabulous and our winners have been announced on the blog.
Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"
We have opportunities to be a Guest Designer for all our winners.

Normally I don't like flying insects. Actually, I don't much like insects at all, but I kept finding myself attracted to these rather fabulous looking moths and finally treated myself to them for Christmas. I have showcased them on a canvas and called it
"Time to Fly"

I made the moths, cogs and clocks from resin using Prima moulds. They are Mecha Moth, Clock Faces, and Machine Parts.
I used texture paste through a Tim Holtz star stencil randomly over the canvas then painted it with DecoArt acrylic paints in shades of blue.

Before fixing to the canvas, I painted the moths using DecoArt acrylic paints. Whilst the paint was still wet I sprinkled gold gilding flakes on the wings and dabbed them in place. I sealed the wings with Matt Mod Podge once dry.

I assembled the resin elements - except the moths -  with Prima's Heavy Body Gel onto the canvas. Once dry I painted the elements with White and Baby Blue acrylic paints. I then added touches of DecoArt Prussian Blue Fluid acrylic paint, allowing it to run onto the canvas around the arrangement.

Lastly, I added the three moths and dry brushed all the elements and areas of the canvas with gold acrylic paint.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge as many times as you like. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. For more inspiration please visit the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog to see the fabulous mixed media projects created by our multi talented team.
Remember to have fun crafting and enter your "Anything Mixed Media Goes" creations in our
February challenge.

Crafts Galore Encore February 2023

Yay! It's February which means that winter is moving on and, hopefully, temperatures are rising and the weather is improving. We have an unexpected day off today as the school is closed due to the teacher's strike. The little princess is not happy as she loves school so I'll have to find some way of amusing her. Maybe we'll venture out to cuddle some giant rabbits and feed the wallabies? Fingers crossed that the wind and rain stay away today.

Meanwhile .....

.... there is a new challenge starting today at

Thank you to everyone who joined in with last month's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"
and our sponsor this month is:

who are offering a prize of 3 digi stamps from their store to our lucky winner.

I've made a 6"x 6" birthday card to show you.

I first created a watercolour page of "smooshed" Distress Oxides using Broken China and Peacock Feathers with water. I then cut the page into a square for the backing, a panel to go across the centre and a small piece for the sentiment. I matted them all onto blue card.

I chose to use the Wild Roses image and coloured it in with my Copics. (I claim 'artistic license' for choosing to make the roses blue and changing their orientation). I cut around the image before attaching it to the card with foam pads.

I wrapped some fabulous gold ribbon (Thank you Pam) around the horizontal panel before fixing it to the card and stamped the sentiment onto the small panel which I also attached with foam pads. I finished the card with some gold gems.

Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog where you can see the wonderful projects and cards created by our talented team using SheepSki Designs images.
