Emma's Crafty Challenge #20

I would, firstly, like to apologise for my absence from Blogland. The past few weeks have been extremely busy for me and I have been without internet for parts of the time due to having to do a lot of travelling about. Hopefully, normal service will be resumed by next week. I will explain myself better in another post. Meanwhile ......

Sunday was the start of Emma's Crafty Challenge # 20. Thank you to all of those who entered our previous challenge, the lucky winners will be be announced in a few days time.
The theme for this challenge is
"Birds"
We are being sponsored by Mishelflo Creative Crafting who are generously offering
a fantastic prize of £20 to spend on anything on her website. The prize includes free postage.

We would love to see your new crafty creations featuring birds of any kind. One of my favourite birds is the peacock. I just love the elegance and colours of this majestic bird.

I matted and layered black textured card and gold mirri. I wrapped around a length of glittered, wire edged ribbon before fixing onto an 8"x 8" card blank. The sentiment is a gold peel off on a Kanban die-cut shape.

I used a Sweet Poppy stencil, and pearlescent paste to create the peacock on textured black card. I dusted over with Mica powders to colour and matted onto gold mirri.

I made three stick pins and used another Kanban die cut to finish off. With the glitter, gold and micas I didn't think the card needed any more embellishing.

Don't forget to pay our fabulous sponsor a visit and have a good look around her webshop for your crafty needs.
I hope you'll pop by the Challenge blog to see the fabulous inspirational creations from the highly talented DT and to check out the rules.

Baby Love, Baby Girl

I'd like to remind everyone about Emma's Crafty Challenge #19 where the theme this this month is "Floral"
We have had lots of fabulous entries so far, but we want more. This challenge is being sponsored by Crafty Queens and they are offering a crafty bag stuffed with approximately £30 worth of gorgeous goodies. Do pay the shop a visit, they have a wide product range, big brands and great prices.
There seems to be a lot of babies being born at the moment and plenty of lovely inspiration from wonderful crafters. I was asked to make a baby girl card for one of my husband's work colleagues and went straight to one of my all time favourite images for baby girl cards.

I used Kraftyhands striped paper matted onto silver mirri. The butterfly paper is from Josephine Wall's Enchanted Dreams CD and the adorable image is from the now retired Joanna Sheen Baby Love CD. I printed the image twice and decoupaged the baby and the bowl. I cut the doily with a Cheery Lynn die from textured card. The sentiments were made on the computer.

I wrapped lace around a panel made from a Kraftyhands polka dot paper and silver mirri. The "Baby" die is from Marianne and I cut it from textured card.

I made the three pearl stick pins and added them to roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. I finished the card with pearls in the corners and more roses at the top.
For a full set of rules at Emma's crafty Challenge please check the Challenge blog While you're there have a look at the wonderful, inspirational projects from the other design team members. We'd love to see your "Floral" creations but hurry up. You only have until the end of the month to enter.
I'd like to enter this card in the challenge at The Crafting Cafe - A baby is Born.

The Happy Birthday was made with Britannia dies and I added three faux pearls.

The roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the gold mirri leaf flourishes are from a Cheery Lynn die.

Emma's Crafty Challenge #18

Welcome to Emma's Crafty Challenge #18. Thank you to all those who took part in our Buttons and Bows challenge, your entries were fabulous. The lucky winner will be announced in a few days.
The theme for Challenge #18 is:
"Lace and Pearls"
and it's being sponsored by the lovely Tina Warwood who is generously offering a prize of a Frou Frou papercrafting and digikit CD-Rom and two stamp sets. A photo of the prize is below.
Most of us regularly use lace and pearls in our crafty projects and we look forward to seeing what you create with them.
Just to give you a couple of ideas, I've used two different types of "pearls" on my DT card.

I started by matting and layering a blue and a white Papermania textured card. I wrapped a length of lace around them before attaching to an 8"x 8" card blank. The sentiment was printed on the computer and mounted onto a Spellbinder die-cut.

I used Cosmic Shimmer liquid pearls to create the swirly flourish. I plotted it out in pencil first.

I tied a bow with lace and made three stick pins with "pearls" and beads. The lace was originally white and I coloured it with an Arctic Blue Promarker.

This is the fabulous Frou Frou prize you could be winning.
Please visit the Emma's Crafty Challenge Blog for a full set of rules and to see the wonderful inspirational projects from the DT.
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Card and Scrap - use lace or tape
Creative Card Crew - no designer paper

Emma's Crafty Challenge # 17 Reminder

The current challenge at  Emma's Crafty Challenge is:
"Buttons and Bows"
and our sponsor for this month is Carley Duff from Creata who is offering a prize of a fabulous bundle of crafty goodies.

I started with an 8"x 8" card blank. The green papers are from the Docrafts Chronology range and the red spotty paper is from Docrafts Brights Capsule Collection. I thought it went perfectly with the mushrooms. The wired ribbon and the buttons are from my stash.

I used a fabulous digi by Heather Valentin, available from the Lacy Sunshine Store, It is called "Finkle - Under the Mushrooms" and it can be found in the New Digis section of the store. I coloured the image with Promarkers and created the sentiment on the computer. Once die-cut, I inked the white areas with Distress Ink Bundled Sage.

The extra mushrooms are from the Gnome Digi Bits set also in the Lacy Sunshine Store. As it's provided in a png it was easy to take into MCS and manipulate into the arrangement I wanted. Again I coloured them with Promarkers.

Here is a photo of the wonderful prize from Creata that you could win.
You can enter any new crafty creation as long as there is a button and a bow. We would love to see what you create. Your entry doesn't have to be a card, it could be any crafty project that follows the theme. Please visit the Challenge Blog to see more inspiration from the talented DT and to check out a full list of the rules.  This time I've made an 8"x 8" box from Centura Pearl card and cut an X in the top to create a frame.

I matted and layered a Kanban card onto gold mirri to use as the background. The butterflies are from the Kanban Mackenzie collection. I used acetate to make them stand proud of the background.

I decorated the outside of the frame with a Spellbinder die and flowers and mini butterflies from the Mackenzie collection.

This is the goody bag donated by Stix2 waiting for the lucky winner.

To give you some inspiration I have made this card.

I started with my favourite 8"x 8" card blank and tinted the edges with Distress Ink Antique Linen. I used two papers from MCS Quintessential Garden and another paper that was a free download from C&C a few years ago.

I created the postcard in MCS with the verse and a rose image. I distressed the edges with my scissors.  I used the edge of my Visible Image Grunge Flourish stamp and gilding flakes from IndigoBlu on a few of the corners and a die cut butterfly from Joy Crafts.

To finish off the card I embellished a bottom corner with another rose, a Cheery Lynn leaf flourish, a feather and a handmade stick pin.

Emma's Challenge #13

Welcome to Challenge #13 at Emma's Cards.
Thank you to all who took part in challenge #12, it proved very popular and the standard of entries was very high. The lucky winner will be announced shortly.
This month our theme is "Art Deco" and we are being sponsored by the gorgeous Glitter Girls. They have kindly donated a prize of one of their wonderful boards and ball tool. There is more about that at the end of this post.
Meanwhile, here is my DT card.

All the cardstock and paper I've used is from Kanban. I made the template myself for a traditional Art Deco shaped card, it fits in an 8"x8" envelope. The image is from the Art Deco CD from Card Creations Plus. I printed it onto textured paper and cut it out with an X-Cut oval die.

I had printed the full image four times but decided to only decoupage her skirt. I added feathers and pearls and highlighted her headband and armband with pale gold Smooch. Then I used tiny pearls and black liquid pearls around the edge of the oval.

I printed out the FABULOUS and die cut it with the smallest X-Cut oval die then I tied a gold bow, placed some feathers behind it and tucked in one of my handmade pins. I finished off with black pearls on the base.

If you're a big fan of the Glitter Girls, do join them on their Facebook page and keep up to date with all their latest news. The girls have generously donated this fantastic Fanciful board and ball tool for the lucky winner.

I know Art Deco is very popular so I look forward to seeing your crafty creations. You don't have to make a card, it can be anything you've handcrafted as long as it fits the theme.
Don't forget to visit the challenge blog for a full list of rules and to get some more inspiration from our wonderful design team.

Emma's Cards Challenge # 9

I'm still having to apologise on behalf of Blogger for making a mess of the appearance of my blog. They seem either unwilling or unable to fix the problem, so, sorry you're having to look at this format instead of my pretty background and font.

Announcing this month's challenge at Emma's Cards! The theme is "Happy Birthday Bryan", so basically, it's a crafty make for a male birthday. This challenge is sponsored by Pink Tulip Creations. Bryan himself will be donating some Christmas themed embellishments to go with the main prize which you can see at the bottom of this post. Bryan is the lovely Emma's partner, and this challenge runs until the end of the month.
Here is my DT card to give you some inspiration.

I started with my favourite 8"x8" blank and matted and layered it with textured brown and orange card from Papermania. The backing paper with the cogs and wheels is from Kanban's Industriana pad.

The robots are digi images from PaperCraftJunkies. They are called Henry Rustin and Uncle Charlie Rustin. I coloured them with Polychromos, used Spellbinders Labels Eleven to die cut them and then inked the edges with Distress Inks Tea Dye.

The cogs are Donna Salazar's "Sprightly Sprockets" which I cut out of silver mirri card. I created the brown cog border by only die-cutting half way through them and I finished the card with a silver sentiment border peel-off.
The winning entry will receive this fantastic prize. It's an  MDF Advent Calendar kit with a retail value of £23, available exclusively from Pink Tulip Creations.

And this is how it can look when you make it up, a real Christmas keepsake.

Lastly, I'd like to wish a Happy Birthday to Bryan!
