Crafts Galore Encore August 2021

Welcome to August and hopefully some lovely summer weather. Now the kids are off school it's more fun for them to be outside. Holidays are tricky at the moment but, fortunately, there are plenty of local activities to keep everyone amused. And for those not so nice days, there's plenty of craft supplies for everyone. Before I organise some crafty projects ....

.... there is a new challenge starting at

Thank you to everyone who joined in with July's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"
and our sponsor this month is:

Who are offering a $10 AU store voucher for our lucky winner.

I have made an 8"x 8" (20 x 20cm) birthday card to show you.

I didn't have the right colour card for my matting layers so I created some by using the chisel end of my R85 Copic pen on white card. The pretty papers are from the First Edition Mulberry Kisses 12" (30cm) paper pad.

I wanted an image to go with my paper so I used my graphics program to print just the flowers from the Shabby Chic Roses digi set. The flowers are on the birdhouse image. I used my Copics to colour the roses. I fussy cut them out and mounted them onto white card with foam pads.

I had printed the image out twice and I coloured two more of the roses. I cut them out and added them to a stamped birthday sentiment with foam pads.

I assembled all the card pieces adding lace, gold gems and finishing with a seambinding bow I'd coloured with Picked Raspberry DOX.

Creative Artiste #73 July 2021

Welcome to July. It should be summer, right? Warm, sunny weather? But not here. We have a week of rain and low temperatures to look forward to. So, before I dig out the coats, umbrellas and wellingtons .....

....Welcome to a new challenge at

Creative Artiste is a monthly challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered the challenge last month. Your projects were all wonderful and our winners have been announced on the blog.
Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"
and we have opportunities to be a Guest Designer for our winners.

I have recycled a pet food box to create a little storage crate.

I started by creating the wood effect with Distress Oxides Vintage Photo and Frayed Burlap on watercolour card. I used a score board to create the grooves and a Tim Holtz mini stencil for the wood grain effect.

I then glued the pieces to the box base with Prima Heavy Body Gel. I defined the grooves with  black Posca pen and darkened the edges with Black Soot DI.

Next, I mixed up some texture paste using DecoArt Festive Green acrylic paint and pushed it through another of the mini stencils in TH Set 10

The flowers were created by colouring watercolour card with Distress Oxides Spiced Marmalade and Picked Raspberry and die cutting. I then stamped on the petals with an old Woodware text stamp, formed the flowers and crumpled them using some water.

I created the butterflies by colouring watercolour card with Brushos Aquamarine and Sea Foam. I then die-cut the butterflies, added the stamped text and heat embossed them with a stencilled pattern and Aged White Frantage.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. Crafts Galore Encore July 2021

Welcome to July where we are hoping for more settled, and nicer, weather.

While Mother Nature makes up her mind about the seasons ....

I have made an 8"x 8" (20 x 20cm) birthday card.

I made the base with brown Papermania card and papers from the Papermania Sweet Treats 12" paper pad.

This fun image is called "I Bake Because". It comes with and without a funny sentiment as part of the design. I added my own Happy Birthday sentiment before printing. The image has been coloured with Copics and matted onto brown card.

I fussy cut out some of the delicious looking treats from another of the Sweet Treat papers and embossed them with clear powder to make them glossy and less fragile.

For the final embellishments I cut out an apron shape from textured card and added ribbons. And I made a mini rolling pin with a piece of wooden skewer and some paper clay.

Creative Artiste #72 June 2021

After the lovely weather for the holiday weekend we've been left with a mixed bag of sunshine and showers this week but we are busy finding fun things to do and enjoying spending some much needed family time together. Today we are out reconnecting with missed friends.

But, before I go I wanted to say....

....Welcome to a new challenge at

I made a triptych of canvases for a lovely friend for her birthday.
Each canvas measures 5"x 7" (13 x 18 cm).
The three canvases were all created the same way and each layer was dried before moving on to the next step. I started by giving the canvases a coat of white gesso. Then I added some colour using Distress Oxide Broken China with water.

I pushed Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade through the Aall & Create stencil #21 in random areas.
Then I used the Aall & Create stencil #45 Digital Bubbles by dipping the stencil in watered Cracked Pistachio DOX and applying it to the canvases.

For the next step I used the 3rd generation technique with Chipped Sapphire DI and the Aall & Create stamp #310 Bubble Block. I finished the backgrounds by using a white Posca pen to add some splats.

The flower is from Aall & Create stamp #109 Blossomed Numbers. I stamped it twice onto watercolour card coloured with DOX Squeezed Lemonade and Scattered Straw. I cut the flowers out and highlighted certain areas with a white Posca pen

I then chopped the images unevenly in two and triple embossed them with clear powder. I attached them to the canvases with Prima Heavy Body Gel.
I finished the canvases by painting the sides with watered Broken China DOX.

Crafts Galore Encore June 2021

It's been a lovely weekend here and the sun has been out to play. It's a school holiday this week and we're looking forward to being able to see our eldest grandson who we haven't seen for nine months. Hopefully the sun is a good sign that summer has arrived but I hope I haven't spoken too soon.

While we wait to find out....

.... there is a new challenge at

Thank you to everyone who joined in with May's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"
and our sponsor this month is:

who are offering a $10 gift voucher for the lucky winner.

I've made two 5"x 7" (13 x 18 cm) cards.

I started by making the background with Distress Oxides and water on watercolour card. I used Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet.

I then cut mats from a dark purple card. As the watercolour card wasn't quite tall enough for the card bases, I trimmed the central mats to be shorter and placed the off cuts with a gap to extend the background.

I used my Copics to colour two images of the fabulous Scribbled Floral digi 1. I couldn't decide which colourway I preferred which is why I made two cards. The image is also available in a pre-coloured set.

I finished the cards with a stamped sentiment and decided the cards didn't need any embellishments.
