Crafts Galore Encore June 2021

 It's been a lovely weekend here and the sun has been out to play. It's a school holiday this week and we're looking forward to being able to see our eldest grandson who we haven't seen for nine months. Hopefully the sun is a good sign that summer has arrived but I hope I haven't spoken too soon.

I've made two 5"x 7" (13 x 18 cm) cards.

I started by making the background with Distress Oxides and water on watercolour card. I used Spiced Marmalade, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet.

I then cut mats from a dark purple card. As the watercolour card wasn't quite tall enough for the card bases, I trimmed the central mats to be shorter and placed the off cuts with a gap to extend the background.

I used my Copics to colour two images of the fabulous Scribbled Floral digi 1. I couldn't decide which colourway I preferred which is why I made two cards. The image is also available in a pre-coloured set.

I finished the cards with a stamped sentiment and decided the cards didn't need any embellishments.

Creative Artiste #71 May 2021

Creative Artiste

Creative Artiste is a monthly challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.

I have created a new page for my journal to show you.

I used my Brayer to add lime green acrylic paint onto a piece of mixed media paper. When the green paint was dry I brayered bright pink acrylic paint over the page.

I used portions of a few different stamps randomly over the page with Archival ink.

The girl and crown are old AALL & Create stamps by Kassa Hayselden. I stamped them onto watercolour card and coloured them with watercolour pencils before cutting them out.

Texture paste was added through a small dot stencil.

I finished the page with white Posca pen splatters and black ink around the edges.

Welcome to May and, hopefully, some lovely weather. Spring has been a mixed bag so far weatherwise with some nice days and some grey days. Today is very pleasant here and we'll be enjoying the sunshine.

I made a 5"x 7" (13 x 18cm) birthday card.

I wanted to go for a classy Art Deco vibe. I started with a base layer of gold mirri card and layered it with black and then red card.

I used the gorgeous Cameo 14 image and coloured it with Copics and a gold Posca pen. I cut the image out and mounted it onto gold mirri.

I added the stamped sentiment onto black card and

finished the card with some punched butterflies and gold gems.

Creative Artiste #70 April 2021

 Last month was an awful one for our little family when it became even smaller and we had to deal with a tragic loss that no parent should have to face. I was reluctant to make a project for this month but then the idea of this canvas came to me. It represents a soul being set free and I've called it Phoenix Rising.

I was inspired to create this bright little canvas.

The canvas measures 9 and 1/2" x 7" (24 x 19 cm) and I started by wrapping wool, string and thick thread around it.

I added some Artstones and then gave it a coat of thick white gesso.

The colours are from DecoArt Misters. I removed the spray top and used a brush to add the colours to the canvas, making sure each colour was dry before adding the next. The colours are Red, Orange and Primary Yellow.

I added splatters of red, yellow, white and black from the DecoArt Misters. The winged embellishment represents a Phoenix rising up through the flames. Just like a soul flying free.

Crafts Galore Encore April 2021

The return to school has been a big success (and relief) in our house. But it was short lived as it's now the Easter holidays. Two weeks off but, at least, there is no homeschooling. We just have to find enough fun things to keep the little princess amused.

I have made a 6"x 6" (15 x 15 cm) card and will add a sentiment when I decide to use it.

I matted and layered dark blue and red card on the base. Then I created a panel by lightly shading white card with Broken China DI and randomly using a stamp with letters and numbers.

I coloured the Owl was Reading image with Copics and matted it onto blue card.

I used off-cuts of the coloured card on the background before adding the image. I finished the card with three buttons from my stash.
