Crafts Galore Encore April 2019

I'm currently on my travels again, and will be for the next week, sorting out family issues. But, at least, I've been able to enjoy the lovely spring weather we've been having here across the UK. I hope the weather wherever you are has been equally nice ...

.... Welcome to my April post for
Thank you to everyone who joined in with March's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"

and our sponsor this month is:

Star Stampz
who are offering three digi images to our lucky winner.

I have made a card with an April showers theme to show you.

The card is made from a 6"x 6" (15 x 15 cm) card blank. I matted and layered two squares of textured card to match the image colours.

We were given a choice of images from Star Stampz and I chose Spring Rain to work with. I added the sentiment before printing the image out and colouring with my Copics.

I finished the card with pretty little yellow bows and some blue and yellow flowers.

Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog where you can see the wonderful projects and cards created by our talented team using Star Stampz images. Grab some inspiration while you're there and enter your "Anything Goes" creations in the April challenge.

I have entered this card in the following challenges:

Creative Artiste #47 March 2019

This is my second post of the day. Please scroll down for my Crafts Galore Encore challenge post.

Welcome to my March challenge post for

A big Thank You to everyone who entered Challenge #46 in February. Your projects were all wonderful and our winners have been announced on the blog.

Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

I have another circular project to show today.

This one started out as a wooden cheese container at Christmas. The top and bottom were given a good couple of coats of white gesso and some harlequin stencilling with texture paste.

Next were the paint layers. First, dark brown acrylic, followed by mid-turquoise. I then added Prima Artstones and painted a layer of light teal acrylic. Each paint layer was wiped back with a damp cloth before it had fully dried. I finished the paints by dry brushing with a pale gold acrylic.

I created the flowers by die-cutting four layers of each petal from plain white card, gelling them together and shaping. The petals were painted with the light teal and dry brushed with gold before assembling and having Artstone centres added.

The butterflies are metal embellishments that have been given the same treatment. I added extra gold paint on the Artstones because it looks so pretty.

The finishing touch was to stamp some text randomly around the sides of the box in brown Archival ink.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter the challenge up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. Our theme every month is the popular

Bugaboo
who are offering a $12 gift code for their online store.

I have made a sweet tag to show you.

The tag measures 6.5"x 4" (16.5cm x 10cm) and is a piece of handcut greyboard. I started by gessoing it in white and adding ripped pieces of old book pages.

I then used texture paste through a Dyan Reavely stencil and while still wet I sprinkled on Papermania Pink embossing powder and heat set. This creates a fluffy, enamelled looking textured detail. Next I coloured the tag with watered acrylics in light green and yellow, and finally, randomly stamped the Dyan Reavely flowers.

The cute image is Fancy Sunbonnet Flowers. She was printed on to watercolour card and coloured with Copics before being cut out and fixed to the tag with gel medium.

I finished the tag with black ink around the edges and some pretty yellow ribbon - thank you Pam.

Creative Artiste #46 February 2019

This is my second post of the day. Please scroll down for my Crafts Galore Encore challenge post.

Welcome to my first post of 2019 for
We had a month off from the challenge while we held a DT call and selected some new members for our team. Don't forget to pop over to the blog to meet them.

Creative Artiste is a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered Challenge #45 in December. Your projects were all wonderful and our winner was announced on the blog in January.

Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

We have decided not to have sponsors this year. Our design team now have the freedom to create whatever projects take their fancy and have no restrictions on their creativity.

I decided to do some decluttering after Christmas and found I had a lot of CDs I no longer wanted. Turns out they make a fabulous substrate....

I used a CD as the base layer and die cut circles for the two other layers from strong greyboard.
All layers were gessoed and then decorated with a selection of MDF and metal cogs.

I mixed some Prima Artstones with gel medium and applied those to the discs. Once everything was dry I gave it all a coat of gesso.

I watered down DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics in Prussian Blue Hue and Quinacridone Gold and used a brush to apply the colours. I moved the paints around with some water spray until I was happy with the blends and coverage.

Once dry, I gave a light coating of Ice Crystal Glamour Dust over the Artstones. My final touch was sticking some fibres randomly to the discs before I mounted them up using gel medium and the centre pieces from empty ribbon reels.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter the challenge up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. Crafts Galore Encore February 2019

I hope you've had a nice start to the year. I spent a large part of January travelling and away from home again, but, at least we got another problem resolved ....
.... Welcome to my February post for
Thank you to everyone who joined in with January's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"

and our sponsor this month is:
Morgan's Artworld
who are offering the three digital images the team used as the prize. (See below).

I have made an A5 portrait card to show you.

The background was created with Distress Oxides Twisted Citron and Lucky Clover on watercolour card. I stamped butterflies all over it and cut a panel. I matted it onto a pearlescent gold card before fixing onto a homemade card blank.

I chose the Cameo #14 image. I just love the smoldering look on her face. I coloured her with my Copics and die cut her into an oval. I used a scalloped oval die with the pearlescent gold card to create the mat.

I used a couple of dies and stamps to make the butterflies from left over background card. I attached them by the body so the wings lift up for dimension. I have left space to add the sentiment when I want to use the card.

Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog where you can see the wonderful projects and cards created by our talented team using Morgan's Artworld's prize images.
