Creative Artiste #86 September 2022

There is less than a week to go before our little princess is due back in school. She is getting super excited about getting to know her new teacher and being reunited with all her classmates and sharing stories of their summer holidays.

But before that....

....Welcome to a new challenge at

I finally got around to making a project I've wanted to do for ages. I decorated a paintbrush.

This is a 3" (7.5 cm) new paintbrush with a wooden handle and nylon bristles. It's length measures 10" (25 cm).

I started by wrapping a  length of thin lace around the brush and gluing  in place. I gessoed the brush, extending the white gesso onto the lace and bristles.

I built up the composition with various resin pieces I'd made with mostly Prima moulds. I stuck them all in place with Heavy Body Gel to hold them securely in place. Then gave them a coat of white gesso.

I then layered different blue acrylic paints over the brush and resins starting with a light blue all over and gradually going darker in the deeper areas. I used water in some areas to get the paint to flow into all the crevices.
Once the paints were dry I dry brushed gold acrylic paint all over to finish.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge as many times as you like. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. Crafts Galore Encore September 2022

Well, August exceeded all expectations with a wonderful week meeting and spending time with my lovely friend and her fabulous family. I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity for us to meet in person and the wonderful memories will last forever. Now we have to start saving so we can do it again!

Meanwhile .....

.... there is a new challenge starting today at

Thank you to everyone who joined in with last month's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"
and our sponsor this month is:
who are offering a $6 store voucher for our lucky winner.

I have made an 8"x 8" (20 x 20cm) card using an image from our sponsor.

I used papers from an old LOTV Nitwit paper pad called Perfect Pair. I matted all the layers on plain white card.

The image I chose to use is called A Little Note. I coloured the image with my Copics then cut the image to fit on the card, mounting it on white card.

I used an old Cheery Lynn die to cut some flourishes from white card and coloured them with Copics. I stamped a sentiment to finish the card.

Creative Artiste #85 August 2022

I'm being kept very busy amusing the kids during the school holidays. We've had some lovely days out and have a fun filled weekend planned. The kids have been enjoying playdates with their friends and soon it will be my turn for some playdates with my wonderful friend.

But, before then ....

I have a collection of empty coffee jars and finally decided to do something with one of them. I've turned it into a vase.

After removing the labels and cleaning the jar I stuck some twine fishnet to the front with soft matt gel.

I then wrapped string around the neck and glued in place. I painted the entire jar with a couple of coats of white acrylic paint.stippling it on the netting to give extra texture.

I painted some resin flowers I'd made with acrylic paints and attached them to the jar with home made texture paste as it's a thick, sticky product with great depth.

I added some resin hearts that I'd painted with green Gansai Tambi watercolour to resemble leaves.
And now I have a new vase!

Crafts Galore Encore August 2022

Finally it's August! I've been looking forward to this month for ages. The highlight of this year will be seeing my wonderful American friend who is coming to the UK for a visit. We didn't think this unexpected event would ever happen and I'm beyond excited for a wonderful few days of face to face chatting and fun.

I have made an 8"x 8" (20 x 20 cm) birthday card using some pretty papers and an image from our sponsor.

The papers I've used are from the Scrap Boys Dream Garden paper pad. I matted all the papers onto white card coloured with a matching Copic pen. I wrapped a seam binding ribbon coloured with Picked Raspberry DI around the layers before fixing the image.

I chose the lovely Peony in a Jar image and coloured it with my Copics. I also printed the flower head by itself.

I printed the Happy Birthday sentiment on the computer. I coloured the peony and rotated it as an embellishment.
I finished the card with a double bow from the coloured seam binding ribbon.

I recently took an online class from Art Workshops with Bipasha K and we decorated a shadowbox. As I had two more smaller shadowboxes I decided to decorate those as well to made a matching trio.

One of the techniques involved heat embossing. Another was stamping and colouring flowers. I used these throughout the three boxes.

One of the steps was to insert a small LED light strip to illuminate the circular aperture. I also used twigs and Prima Artstones.

I used acrylic paints and crackle paste on the outside of the boxes. The tops of the boxes were finished off with Tim Holtz Curio Knobs and twine.

I chose three Tim Holtz Paper Dolls to go with the three Aall & Create stamped sentiments.

It was a fabulous class and I enjoyed using the different techniques from Bipasha to create this little set of shadowboxes.
