I joined a mixed media craft group on Facebook earlier this year. The group is run by Anna Hersom and involves creating fabulous craft projects with different mediums. The classes come with all the elements and mediums needed to complete the projects.
I started by giving it a coat of white gesso before adding texture paste through a stencil.
Once dry I assembled all the resin elements and fixed them in place with Heavy Body Gel. I then sealed everything with a coat of white gesso. I swapped some of the elements provided with the class and added the butterflies.
The next step was to add some colour. This was done by adding some brown pigment powder and spreading it with a brush and water. I then added the second colour. This time it was a turquoise pigment powder that I spread with a brush and water.
I then added some more brown pigment to blend the colours better and add shadows.
I dry brushed some white gesso over certain areas to lighten them and finished the project with some gold Pebeo Gilding Wax.
I love this project and it is one of my favourite creations of all time.
I call it "The Secret of Time".
Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge as many times as you like. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. ReplyDeleteOh Andree this is BEAUTIFUL! I so love it - everything about it - the colours and textured background and all those resin bits + the waxing. Sure is one of my favourites of yours too. Nice touch with the butterfly.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Andree - I find this such a calming piece - I love how you've put all those pieces together to create a fabulous piece - I can easily see why it is your favourite
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Andree I used to love creating works of art like this in the past. Wonderful that all the elements are ready to create and display just how you want to dress them. The colours are fantastic and the shape is so complimentary to each embellishment.. stunning!!
ReplyDeleteHappy creative November xx
Gorgeous, Andree! The composition is awesome, and the colors have definitely made a huge difference to the look (compared to the marble-like appearance of the gessoed MDF and resin pieces.) Wishing you a wonderfully creative November, and hope you continue to enjoy your classes! xo Anita
