Creative Artiste #60 May 2020

This is my second post for today. Please scroll down for my Crafts Galore Encore challenge post. But first, have a look at this ....

.... A new challenge at
Creative Artiste is a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered the challenge in April. Your projects were all wonderful and our winners have been announced on the blog.

Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"
and we have opportunities to be a Guest Designer for our winners.

Do you ever misplace your keys at home? I made a box to keep keys safe for a lovely family member.

This started life as a thick cardboard box. I covered it with multiple layers of white tissue paper all glued in place with soft matt gel making it very sturdy.

I then gave it a coat of light turquoise acrylic paint and randomly used an Aall and Create stamp from set #10. Once that was dry I coloured some soft matt gel with Cracked Pistachio DOX and passed that through Aall and Create stencil #20 around the box.

I chose a darker turquoise to paint the interior and base of the box. I also painted four little wooden cotton reels and glued them to the underside of the box.

I had some decorative keys in my stash and fixed them to the front of the box. I added a gem to one of the keys so the number reads 1960 - a significant number for the recipient of the box.

I finished the box with some silver Pebeo wax on the edges, corners, keys and legs.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. For more inspiration please visit the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog to see the fabulous mixed media projects created by our multi talented team.
Remember to have fun crafting and enter your "Anything Mixed Media Goes" creations in our May challenge.

Stay safe everyone!

  12. Beautiful choice of colour way, that's a very clever way of recycling that cardboard box. Love how you used the keys to embellish the sides, a lovely trinket box to keep our precious keys all safe and sound. Thank you for the inspiration.
