We've had a few sunny days this past week but some of the more usual rainy ones too. Hopefully the nicer days will get more frequent and a lovely spring is just around the corner. Until then I think I'll stay indoors and keep crafting. So ....
.... Welcome to my March challenge post for
Creative Artiste is a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered the challenge in February. Your projects were all wonderful and our winners have been announced on the blog.
Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"
and we have opportunities to be a Guest Designer for our winners.
I have made an 8"x 8" (20 x 20 cm) canvas using Tracy Evans #143 Time Flies and Olga Heldwein #195 Flowers and Gears stamps by Aall & Create.
This canvas is based on one of the classes I taught last month and the techniques proved very popular.
The canvas was first coloured with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide and water.
I then used 2nd generation stamping randomly over the canvas and dried everything well before giving it a light coat of white gesso.
Circles were stamped with different sized bottle tops using Picked Raspberry DOX and lightly spritzed with water to diffuse them slightly.
Next, circles were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed in gold. Splashes of gesso were also gold embossed. The canvas base was finished with splashes of white gesso.
The flowers were stamped onto gessoed card with Picked Raspberry DOX and lightly spritzed with water. Once dry they were overstamped with black Versafine. The sentiment was done the same way.
This technique with the flowers creates a lovely watercolour effect. Once they were dry, the flowers and sentiment were cut out and the centres glued onto the canvas. I used some watered Weathered Wood Distress Ink to create shadows around the flowers for dimension and around the edges of the canvas.
Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog.
