Mr Smith's Workshop May 2016

Yay! It's Friday. I've had another very busy week and it's going to be a busy day tomorrow too. But at least I shall be crafting. I hope you have a nice weekend planned and get some time to craft too.
I have some more samples to show you that I have made for my Docrafts demo tomorrow.
There are so many fabulous new products from Docrafts this month. I showed some samples from the gorgeous Gorjuss Vintage Rose collection on Wednesday along with some of the new dies and embellishments. Today I have some of my samples from the brilliant Mr. Smith's Workshop.

This collection is perfect for those difficult men's cards. And for Father's Day. The A4 Ultimate Die-cut and Paper Pack has plenty of toppers, decoupage and papers. There are also two sizes of Paper Packs which have some wonderful papers that look like textured wood, bricks and metal.

There are metal embellishments, wooden letters, 3D stickers and stamps to go with the range.

In both May's Creativity magazine and the product supplement there are some fabulous tutorials. You can make the record card (second photo), and wallet, (photo above). Both make brilliant gift cards.

Learn how to construct the metal look tool box from the Creativity magazine. It works so well as a gift box.

And if you grab a Goody Bag and the product supplement you can create a shed card like mine thanks to a tutorial by Mags Woodcock.
Don't forget to check out your local Docrafts stockist for these and more of the new collections. You can see more of my samples in my Docrafts Gallery. Simply click on the link in the sidebar.
If you are around Carmarthen then please pop into The Range where I will be from 10 am till 4 pm. I'd love to see you. If not, then have a wonderful weekend.

Gorjuss Docrafts May 2016

Sorry I've been MIA lately. It's been a busy time for me and the family. I hope you've all been keeping well and enjoying your crafting.
Today I want to show you some of what I've been busy doing these past weeks. I've been preparing for a Docrafts demo at The Range in Carmarthen on Saturday. I shall be in store from 10 am - 4 pm and if you're in the area I'd love to see you.
There are lots of exciting new Docrafts, Papermania, X-cut, Papier Patch and Anita's products released this month and three fabulous new collections. One of them features the popular Santoro Gorjuss. This new range is called The Vintage Rose Collection.

These samples were made using the Vintage Rose A4 Ultimate Die-cut & Paper Pack which comes in a fabulous triple folder. I added some of the pretty coordinating Gorjuss ribbons and some of the Gorjuss Rose Charms which are wonderful moulded roses in four different colours and sizes.

The Gorjuss Vintage Rose collection also includes four new rubber stamps. The one I've used is called Heartfelt. Each character comes with a coordinating frame and extra embellishments. There are also two new sets of Watercolour Dual-tip Pens to colour these pretty stamps with. Or you could paper piece the stamps to fully coordinate with the pretty papers and vellums.

There are also lots of new X-cut dies like the fabulous Filigree Tea Time set and the Woodland Flourishes I used on some of the Gorjuss cards.

Look out for the new Papier Patch papers, Papermania Colour In Glitter Stickers and Glitter Dot Stickers. They work fabulously with Anita's Foiled Decoupage.
Also, the new Cut and Emboss Folders will let you quickly and easily create fabulous, elegant cards.
All these new products means lots of samples which, hopefully, means lots of inspiration for you. I hope you now go and check out your local Docrafts stockist so you can grab some of these fabulous new goodies for yourself. You can also see more of my samples by viewing my Docrafts Gallery. Simply click on the link in the sidebar.
Remember to pop into The Range in Carmarthen on Saturday if you are nearby. I'll be back in a couple of days to show you two more of the new Docrafts collections.

Kraftyhands May 2016 Challenge

Welcome to a new challenge at Kraftyhands. We hope you will all join in.
The theme this month is based on this colour chip

"Teal, Dusky Pink, Sand and Circle"
The lucky winner will receive a £10 Kraftyhands voucher if they have used a Kraftyhands product.
A full set of the rules are on the blog.

I made a round card that will fit in an 8"x 8" (20 cm x 20 cm) envelope. Hand cut circles are not my forte but I cut the matting layers from teal card. The sentiment was computer generated.

I used a paper and a round topper from the Craft Nouveau CD. It's only £8 in the Kraftyhands sale at the moment and is a must for anyone who loves the Art Nouveau period. It's full of pretty pattered papers and beautiful images.

The flourishes are a Sizzix die and the flower was made with a Crealies die.
Please visit the  Kraftyhands Challenge Blog for a full set of the challenge rules and to view the inspirational creations from my talented team mates. This challenge runs until the end of the month. Remember to be a follower of the challenge blog to qualify for entry.

I've entered this card in the following challenges:

I shan't complain about Mother Nature today as we finally have some beautiful weather. I hope it's as nice and sunny where you are.

A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered Challenge #13 in April. Your projects were wonderful. The winner has been announced  on the blog.

We are sponsored this month by
Maja Design
who are generously offering a pack of their beautiful papers for our prize winner.
The theme this month is
"Anything Goes"
as long as it's mixed media.

I chose to alter a box for the mail and keys that I picked up at a local store. A photo of the original is at the end of this post.

I started by removing the fixings and the covering the whole box with several layers of white gesso and then acrylic paint, sanding down in between the coats.

I used a Sue Wilson die to decorate the top of the box. I coloured the flowers and leaves with Distress Inks and then sealed with Modge Podge and used that to stick them down after cutting to fit. I added half pearls to the flowers.

I made the front panel with pink card and Pion papers. The die cut flowers are from a Memory Box die and the roses are from Wild Orchid. I printed the HOME letters on the computer and cut them out before coloring with Bundled Sage Distress Ink. The bow is seam binding coloured with Bundled sage DI and the metal corners were coloured with Pesto Adirondack Alcohol ink. I added some pearl strings and single pearls and finished by dotting around the whole panel with an iridescent pearl paint.

      The box went
from this -------------------> to this.

Now please visit the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog to see the wonderful projects created by my talented team mates. Remember to have fun and enter your "Anything Goes" mixed media creations in the challenge.

Crafts Galore Encore May 2016

As it's the first of May you would think that we, in the UK, would be enjoying some lovely Springtime weather. Instead we have had arctic winds, snow, hail and lots of rain.
I hope you are all coping with whatever Mother Nature is throwing at you.
The first of the month means it's time for a new challenge on the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog. Thank you to everyone who joined in with the April challenge. The winners are on the challenge blog 'winner's page'. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. A full list of rules are on the challenge blog.
Our theme this month is everyone's favourite:
"Anything Goes"
and this month's sponsor is Di's Digis who will award $12 of digis to the winner.

As the theme is Anything Goes the DT were given free rein to create anything they liked and I chose to make a mixed media card.

I started by covering an 8"x 8" (20 cm x 20 cm) card base with Kraft card and layering with a paper from First Edition. I then ripped up a piece of corrugated card and dabbed it with white acrylic paint. The top strip of paper is also from First Edition. The sentiment was computer generated.

I made the flowers using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Bigz die on card I'd coloured with Seedless Preserves and Wild Honey Distress Inks. I filled the centres with tiny beads.

The clay frame was made using a Katy Sue mould and coloured with acrylic paint and Seedless Preserve DI. The butterfly is from a Tim Holtz Bigz die and coloured with Antique Linen and Seedless Preserves DI.

The little butterflies are wooden embellishments coloured with Seedless Preserves and topped with a half pearl.
Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog to see the fabulous Anything Goes projects my talented team mates have created for your inspiration. We look forward to seeing your entries for this month's challenge.
