Creative Artiste #14 May 2016

I shan't complain about Mother Nature today as we finally have some beautiful weather. I hope it's as nice and sunny where you are.
The first Friday of the month means it's the start of the new challenge at Creative Artiste We are a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. As long as you use more than one medium on your creation we'd love to see you enter the challenge. This is a month long challenge so you have time to create projects and enter up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered Challenge #13 in April. Your projects were wonderful. The winner has been announced  on the blog.

We are sponsored this month by
Maja Design
who are generously offering a pack of their beautiful papers for our prize winner.
The theme this month is
"Anything Goes"
as long as it's mixed media.

I chose to alter a box for the mail and keys that I picked up at a local store. A photo of the original is at the end of this post.

I started by removing the fixings and the covering the whole box with several layers of white gesso and then acrylic paint, sanding down in between the coats.

I used a Sue Wilson die to decorate the top of the box. I coloured the flowers and leaves with Distress Inks and then sealed with Modge Podge and used that to stick them down after cutting to fit. I added half pearls to the flowers.

I made the front panel with pink card and Pion papers. The die cut flowers are from a Memory Box die and the roses are from Wild Orchid. I printed the HOME letters on the computer and cut them out before coloring with Bundled Sage Distress Ink. The bow is seam binding coloured with Bundled sage DI and the metal corners were coloured with Pesto Adirondack Alcohol ink. I added some pearl strings and single pearls and finished by dotting around the whole panel with an iridescent pearl paint.

      The box went
from this -------------------> to this.

Now please visit the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog to see the wonderful projects created by my talented team mates. Remember to have fun and enter your "Anything Goes" mixed media creations in the challenge.

Crafts Galore Encore May 2016

As it's the first of May you would think that we, in the UK, would be enjoying some lovely Springtime weather. Instead we have had arctic winds, snow, hail and lots of rain.
I hope you are all coping with whatever Mother Nature is throwing at you.
The first of the month means it's time for a new challenge on the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog. Thank you to everyone who joined in with the April challenge. The winners are on the challenge blog 'winner's page'. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. A full list of rules are on the challenge blog.
Our theme this month is everyone's favourite:
"Anything Goes"
and this month's sponsor is Di's Digis who will award $12 of digis to the winner.

As the theme is Anything Goes the DT were given free rein to create anything they liked and I chose to make a mixed media card.

I started by covering an 8"x 8" (20 cm x 20 cm) card base with Kraft card and layering with a paper from First Edition. I then ripped up a piece of corrugated card and dabbed it with white acrylic paint. The top strip of paper is also from First Edition. The sentiment was computer generated.

I made the flowers using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers Bigz die on card I'd coloured with Seedless Preserves and Wild Honey Distress Inks. I filled the centres with tiny beads.

The clay frame was made using a Katy Sue mould and coloured with acrylic paint and Seedless Preserve DI. The butterfly is from a Tim Holtz Bigz die and coloured with Antique Linen and Seedless Preserves DI.

The little butterflies are wooden embellishments coloured with Seedless Preserves and topped with a half pearl.
Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog to see the fabulous Anything Goes projects my talented team mates have created for your inspiration. We look forward to seeing your entries for this month's challenge.

Kraftyhands April 2016 Challenge

Welcome to a new challenge at Kraftyhands. We hope you will all join in.
The theme this month is based on this colour chip

"Red, White, Blue and Shield"
The lucky winner will receive a £10 Kraftyhands voucher if they have used a Kraftyhands product.
A full set of the rules are on the blog.

I've made a 6"x 6" (15cm x 15cm) card.  I wanted to keep it simple as not to detract from the fabulous florals. The papers are from the Kraftyhands Seeds of Love CD and mat and layered on white card.

I used the decoupage image of these gorgeous red roses from Card Making Set #4 on the Seeds of Love CD. I printed it out onto glossy photo paper for extra shine and mounted the layers up with foam pads.

I hand cut a shield shape and gold embossed the edges and a circle in the centre. Both sentiments and the flower are from the CD.
I finished the card with three blue gems.

Please visit the  Kraftyhands Challenge Blog for a full set of the challenge rules and to view the inspirational creations from my talented team mates. This challenge runs until the end of the month. Remember to be a follower of the challenge blog to qualify for entry.

Creative Artiste #13 April 2016

This is my second post for today. Please see below for the new Crafts Galore Encore challenge.
It's the 1st of April but also the first Friday so that means it's the start of the April challenge at Creative Artiste We are a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. As long as you use more than one medium on your creation we'd love to see you enter the challenge. This is a month long challenge so you have time to create projects and enter up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered Challenge #12 in March. Your projects were fabulous. The winner has been announced  on the blog.

We are sponsored this month by
Dusty Attic

And the mixed media theme is
"Anything Goes"
with the option of
"Use Chipboard, Stencils or Flowers"

I opted to use stencils and flowers and I decorated this 8"x 8" (20cm x 20cm) canvas.

I first cut out a couple of clouds and used them as masks while I painted the canvas with a pale blue acrylic. Then I used an ivy stencil with green acrylic paint. I made the fences with lolly sticks from Docrafts Craft Planet range.

I cut circles of felt to make the spiral roses and leaf shapes from green felt which I pinched and glued. I topped the roses with pearls.

The sentiment stamp is from the Enjoy Life set by IndigoBlu and was stamped with Paris Dusk Memento ink.
Now please visit the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog to see the wonderful projects created by my talented team mates. Remember to have fun and enter your "Anything Goes" or "Chipboard, Stencils or Flowers" mixed media creations in the challenge.

Crafts Galore Encore April 2016

It's the first of April and I hope you haven't fallen foul of any April Fools jokes.
It's time for a new challenge on the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog. Thank you to everyone who joined in with the March challenge. The winners are on the challenge blog 'winner's page'. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. A full list of rules are on the challenge blog.
Our theme this month is everyone's favourite:
"Anything Goes"
and this month's sponsor is Beccy's Place  who will award 3 digi images or one set of digi images to the winner.

I was lucky enough to receive one of Beccy's fabulous images to work with and I made this Springtime card with it. I made a tent card that will fit into a C5 envelope.

I stared by making a couple of panels with papers from First Edition Mulberry Kisses. I added a layer of cheesecloth in between them and a doily on top. Then I wrapped a couple of lengths of ribbon around them before fixing to the card base.

This gorgeous image is called Shabby Chic Birdhouse and I printed it out four times so I could decoupage the roses, ribbons and leaves. I coloured the image with Copics, cut out the decoupage layers and mounted them up with small foam pads.

I made a ribbon tassel and tags and die-cut some SB feathers. I finished the card with a couple of birds from a stamp/die-cut combo by Heartfelt Creations.
Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog to see the fabulous projects my talented team mates have created for your inspiration. We look forward to seeing your entries for this month's challenge.
I'll be back shortly with my project for Creative Artiste.
