Docrafts Demonstration September 2014

Well, it's been a busy time in my my craft room again this week as I've been preparing for my Docrafts demonstration at The Range in Carmarthen. I will be in store from 10am till 4pm this Saturday and would love to see you if you are in the area.
This time the collections are centered around Christmastime. There is something for everyone from vintage images and papers to fun and cute woodland animals. There are also contemporary colours and patchwork patterns.

The Victorian Christmas collection features decoupage, papers, stamps and decorations typical of bygone times.

The Pippinwood collection is full of endearing woodland creatures celebrating the holiday season.
There are images, papers and embellishments in bright, vibrant colours.

The Bellissima Christmas collection is made up of contemporary colours and delicate images with feminine, lacy touches.
There is decoupage, sentiments, papers, stamps, ribbon and gems.

The final collection is the Nordic inspired Craft Christmas. There is gingham, cross stitch and patchwork inspired papers and stamps.
The papers have a natural fiber look in a classic colourway.

I hope I have inspired you to check out your local Docrafts stockist so you can make your own Christmas creations in any style you prefer. And if you're in the Carmarthen area on Saturday please pop in to The Range and say Hello.
I'll be back tomorrow with some of the projects and gift ideas I've made with these collections.

Notelet Box Tutorial

This is a tutorial I have done for the Scribble & Scrap blog It's a set of notelets and a box to put them in. This is a lovely Christmas or birthday present for crafters to make and can easily be adjusted for any size. All highlighted items can be purchased in the Scribble & Scrap Shop.

I started by using Curiosity Corner Sentiment Stamps and stamped the sentiment on four A6 card blanks. Then, on an A4 sheet, I stamped the sweet Lillibet Clear Stamp Holding Flower four times.

Once I'd coloured the images with my Promarkers I die-cut them and edged with Distress Ink.

I decorated the notelets with Lillibet Die-cut Bunting and Curiosity Corner Paper Blossoms flowers.

Now for the actual box. I hate having to measure anything so I kept it simple. First, I made the top of the box. I took an envelope for the notelets and placed it in the centre of a A4 sheet of sturdy card. I allowed a bit of a gap around the envelope and marked the card. I then scored the lines to fold the base.

Next, I stacked the notelets and envelopes to see how deep the box needed to be. 2 centimetres looked about right so I added that as a border all round and cut the card to size.
To make the bottom of the box, which needs to be just a little bit smaller, I cut a second piece of card a few millimetres smaller than the top. I then measured in 2 cm round the sides and scored those lines.
At the corners I cut into one line to make a tab and removed a small sliver to make the fold neater.

I folded all the corners up and used a wet glue to stick them into place. Paperclips held them while they dried. Can you see how the top of the box is slightly larger than the bottom so it will slot over the base?

To decorate the box I stamped Lillibet again and coloured and die-cut her as before. I cut a larger shape as a matting layer. I used a paper from  Lillibet 6x6 designer paper pack for the corners and added some flowers from Curiosity Corner Paper Blossoms. I finished them with gems and buttons.

And there you have a very simple way to create a little gift. You don't have to put notelets in the box. What about some handmade cards? Or gift tags? You can make a box of any size, just remember to use your envelopes as a size guide. Try making the box from double sided paper so the inside looks pretty too.
If you make one of these boxes I'd love you to show me how it turned out. This tutorial will also appear on the Scribble & Scrap Challenge Blog.
Thank you for looking. I'd appreciate any comments.

I started by covering a 6"x 6" card blank with a pretty paper from the Curiosity Corner 6x6 paper packI then added a Dovecraft cream doily and a strip of lace from my stash. The bunting was made with Lillibet Die-cut Bunting and I stamped the sentiment from Curiosity Corner Sentiment Stamps.

The stamped image is Lillibet Clear Stamp, Holding Flower which I cut out with an X-cut die and edged with Distress Ink. I coloured Lillibet with my Promarkers. Although this image is a girl, I've coloured her in boyish colours to match the paper. The flowers are from two sets available in the shop, the  Curiosity Corner Paper Blossoms and the  Scribble & Scrap Flowers and Things, White and Sky. I finished the card with some red and blue pearls from my stash.

Kraftyhands September 2014 Challenge

Today is the start of the September challenge at Kraftyhands. Thank you to those of you who joined in with the August challenge, the winners have been posted on the blog. This challenge is just for fun. The theme this month is "Autumn Colours"
We would love it if you used a Kraftyhands product somewhere on your project, but it's not necessary. Though we do ask that you follow the challenge blog.
I decided to show you something different from Kraftyhands today. I used the Bold Blooms Poppies stamp  to create this card. Poppies are always very popular but this year they are particularly significant as they are being used to commemorate 100 years since the start of WW1.

I made an A5 card base from cream hammered card. I printed the sentiment directly onto the card before folding. The image was matted and layered onto red card and gold pearlescent card before fixing to the card base.

I stamped the poppies three times using a masking technique and coloured them with my Polychromos. I then used the pencils to create a graduated background. I finished the card with three black pearls in the corner.
Please now visit the  Kraftyhands Challenge Blog for a full set of the challenge rules and to view the inspirational DT creations. Remember to be a follower of the challenge blog to qualify for entry in the challenge. You can also keep up to date with all the latest Kraftyhands news and see sneak peeks on the Kraftyhands Blog.

I have been having a play with some of the gorgeous goodies from the shop and created this little card.

I've made a Gatefold Card and scallop cut the left hand gate. I then covered it with one of the papers from the Lillibet 6x6 designer paper pack and one from the Curiosity Corner 6x6 paper pack.

I used the sweet Lillibet Clear Stamp "Holding Flower" and coloured her with my Promarkers. I then die-cut the image and inked the edges before fixing to the left hand gate.

I stamped the sentiment using one of the Curiosity Corner Sentiment Stamps and added some flowers from the Curiosity Corner Paper Blossoms pack.
I finished the card with some of my own die-cuts and pearls.
