Creative Artiste #52 August 2019

Two weeks of the summer holidays gone already and we are surviving. Yay! We still have a mini break, family coming to visit and a birthday for our special little girl to look forward to. Now all I need is to find some crafty time for myself. Meanwhile ...

...Welcome to my August challenge post for
Creative Artiste is a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations, we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered Challenge #51 in July. Your projects were all fabulous and our winners have been announced on the blog.

Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"

I have a 12"x 9" (30 x 23 cm) canvas to show today.

I started by applying texture paste through a stencil by Marta from Maremi Small Art around the edges of the canvas. Once dry I covered it with a layer of black gesso.

I added splatters with a gold and a white Posca pens.

I then applied Pebeo Empire Gold gilding wax to the raised texture paste and the edges of the canvas.

I brayered acrylic paints onto watercolour card and die cut circles which I then stamped using a PaperArtsy Eclectica stamp set by Tracy Scott.

I again used my gold and white Posca pens to add details to the circles before mounting them all up on the canvas using foam pads for dimension.

Now it's your turn to have fun and create your mixed media projects. You can enter our challenge up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. For more inspiration please visit the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog to see the wonderful mixed media projects created by our talented team. Remember to have fun crafting and enter your "Anything Mixed Media Goes" creations in our August challenge.

Crafts Galore Encore August 2019

The school summer holidays are here and our daily routine has flown out of the window. I've been away on a weekend of craft workshops, us 'girls' have a little holiday to look forward to and family are coming to visit. We have lots of fun things planned so, hopefully, the six weeks will fly by.
Meanwhile ....
.... There's a new challenge at
Thank you to everyone who joined in with July's challenge. The winners have been announced on the challenge blog. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. There is a full list of rules on the challenge blog.

Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"
and our sponsor this month is:
Fred, She Said Designs .... The Store
Fred She Said Designs

who are offering a $10 store voucher for the lucky winner.

I have an 8"x 8" (20 x 20 cm) card to show today. A certain young lady, who has a birthday coming up, has requested it as one of her birthday cards, ha ha.

The card base was layered with some blue card and then matted with a pretty paper from LOTV's Promises collection.

The next layer is another sheet from the same pad which I cut to create two wide borders. I inked the edges in Dusty Concord DI and mounted them with foam pads for dimension. I stuck gems on the flowers and printed a generic sentiment.

I chose this delightful image to work with as she looks like our little girl. It's called Emma in her Cool Cap.  I printed it out four times and coloured them with my Copics before cutting Emma into decoupage layers and mounting her up with foam pads.
I finished the card with a little turquoise bow.

Now please visit the  Crafts Galore Encore challenge blog where you can see the wonderful projects and cards created by our talented team using Fred She Said images. Grab some inspiration while you're there and enter your "Anything Goes" creations in the August challenge.

I hope you all have a lovely summer and manage to find some crafty time for yourselves.

I have entered this card in the following challenges:
