Happy New Year and welcome to my first post of 2018 for
We are a challenge blog for everyone who likes to mix their media. So, as long as you like to use various mediums on your creations we'd love to see you enter the challenge.
A big Thank You to everyone who entered Challenge #33 in December. Your projects were fabulous and our winner has been announced on the blog.
Our theme is always
"Anything Mixed Media Goes"
This month we are being sponsored by:
Tando Creative
who are offering two prizes of a 30% discount on Tando products in their online store.
I have used these products available from Tando Creative to create a tag.
I started by giving the greyboard tag a base coat of black gesso and then two of white gesso, drying in between coats. I sanded back patches of the white gesso when dry. Next I stamped over the tag using black Archival ink and one of Andy Skinner's stamps from his Toxic set.
Then I painted the tag with washes of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics in Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber and wiped back areas with a damp cloth.
Lastly I added Burnt Sienna acrylic paint around the edges.
The butterflies are from The Butterfly Grab Bag. I gave them a coat of dark blue acrylic then I applied a layer of DecoArt Media Crackle Paste with a palette knife and left to dry. I finished them with washes of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics in Cobalt Teal and Green Gold.
I did the Diamond Grid the same way as the butterflies but with a turquoise acrylic base coat and only a Green Gold wash. To finish the tag I used a heavy matt gel to attach all the pieces and added a fabric flower.
This is a month long challenge so you have time to create your mixed media projects and enter up to three times. A full list of the rules is on the challenge blog. For more inspiration please visit the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog to see the wonderful mixed media projects created by our talented team. Remember to have fun crafting and enter your "Anything Mixed Media Goes" creations in the challenge.
