Craft Box Clipboard

Well, our weather over here in South Wales still can't make up it's mind about summer. We typically have a mixture of sun, rain, wind and fog. And that's just in a morning.
I cheered myself up this week by making this project. There were some lovely elements in the August Craft Box which I received at the beginning of the week. They included a board and a clip which I put together to make a clipboard.

The board is 7.5" x 5.5" (19 x 14 cm). I started by adding some torn pieces of a craft newspaper and bits from the SnipArt trellis before a light coat of gesso.

Next I built up a platform using some stencilled card layers. I then cut up one of the metal filigrees and began adding some elements from the most recent Craft Boxes I'd received.

Those elements included a Steampunk charm, wooden pegs, mermaid cabochons and purple half pearls.

There were also paper roses, resin roses, Druzy sparkles and opal tiles.
To colour the clipboard and elements I used four of my 13 @rts Ayeeda sprays - available in the UK from Artist Trading Post. The colours I used are Pastel Dirty Pink, Pastel Green, Pastel Turquoise and Chalk White.

I made the sentiment plaque by heat embossing white Frantage on a die-cut oval and using a Kaisercraft stamp with Stazon.

My finishing touch was to add a seam binding bow I'd coloured with Distress Oxides.

In parts of the UK this weekend it is a Bank Holiday, which means that Monday is a day off. There is no extra craft time for me though as we have house guests. Trust me they're not here for the weather.
I hope you all have a crafty weekend and lovely weather though wherever you are.

This month we are being sponsored by:

Maja Design

I have used some of my gorgeous Maja papers to make three vintage style tags.

The papers I've used are from the 6"x 6" (15cm x 15cm) Sofiero collection and the tag bases were all hand cut from greyboard.

The base layer on this tag was gessoed, painted with pale pink acrylic and second generation text stamped with coffee Archival. I then splattered on white gesso and painted the edges with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide. The next layers are torn Sofiero paper with texture paste through a stencil and some vintage lace. I added some torn strips of paper before fixing the topper in place. A seam binding bow with cord and a handmade flower with cheesecloth finished this tag.

The base of the second tag was painted and inked with Broken China DO then a torn piece of Sofiero paper. I added half a die-cut doily and some cheesecloth coloured with DOs then some more paper before fixing the topper in place and splattering some white gesso. A seam binding bow, some cord and three handmade clay roses finished this tag.

The base of this final tag was created in the same way as the first. I then added half a die-cut doily coloured with Worn Lipstick and Vintage Photo DOs and a couple of pieces of torn Sofiero papers.
I added the topper and splattered some white gesso. Some seam binding, cord. a lace applique and a homemade clay button finished the tag.

Thank you to everyone who joined in with July's challenge. The winners are on the challenge blog's 'winner's page'. This is a month long challenge and you can enter up to three times. A full list of rules are on the challenge blog.
Our theme every month is the popular
"Anything Goes"

Our sponsor this month is:
Beccy's Place
who is offering one digi set to the winner.

I have made an 8"x 8" (20cm x 20cm) card.

I created the background by adding texture paste through a stonework stencil on mixed media card. Once dried I painted it with a soft yellow acrylic then lightly brushed over the texture paste in pale grey. I painted the edges of another piece of card in brown acrylic and matted the yellow card on top.

We were allowed to chose one of Beccy's fabulous images and I chose The Old Well. I coloured it with Copics before trimming and scruffing the edges. I printed a sentiment and fixed them both to the card with foam pads.

I embellished the card with fabric flowers, polystyrene baubles, and bamboo sticks.
